Understanding the Integrated Pet Contact Manager
The first time you use Petcare Software to add new Contacts, go to Health /
Contacts and enter all of a pet’s Health Care Provider and Emergency
contact information. DO NOT ADD THESE CONTACTS IN THE All Contacts CATEGORY.
ADD THESE CONTACTS FOR ONLY ONE PET (PROFILE) AT THIS TIME. When you
Add, Save, Edit, and OK the contact, their contact information will (auto
populate) to:
-
The All Contacts category, under the respective contact sub-categories Health
Care Provider and Emergency.
-
The Contacts sub-category under Health.
-
A Contact Selection List within all sub-categories of the Health
Category for this and any other Pet Profiles.
-
Other Pet Profiles. Contacts can be shared (attached) across Pet
Profiles when you add a New Pet or Add Pet Profiles.
This is helpful if other pet’s share similar contacts. Refer to Defaults (below)
to learn more about shared contacts.
Try this exercise
A Health Care Provider or Emergency contact may also be a Medication
Provider, Immunization Provider or a Groomer contact. Go
to the Health / Medications sub category and click Add. A modal
screen will appear. Look down the list to locate the Medication Provider
box and Click Save.
When you do, an Edit button will appear next to the Medication Provider
box (on the right). Click Edit to view the available contacts on the Health
Contacts List.
If a desirable contact is present, you may use your cursor to Select one
from the list. If you select a contact from another health category, a copy of
that contact will be created with the Medication Provider type and
attached to this Medication. If you select a Medication Provider contact,
it will attach the contact to this Medication. You will now have two copies of
that contact; you can update, or delete them individually. If not, you can Add
a contact to this list. You can also Edit or Remove a contact on
this list. When finished, click OK to add this contact as the Medication
Provider.
Now you can go to Health / Contacts or All Contacts to view a list
of Medication Providers.
Once you are comfortable adding, editing, selecting or removing contacts within
the Health category, you will be prepared to do the same in every other
category.
Remember, Health contacts will not attach (auto populate) to other
categories within a Pet Profile, only across Pet Profiles.
Defaults
The Owner / Basic and primary Address information will default to
EVERY pet’s Basic and Address information under the pet Identity
category. The default begins to auto populate upon product registration.
1. Go to Owner / Basic and Address information to complete (edit)
the data fields that were not populated during the registration process. You
may want to add alternate and/or
previous residential data.
2. The Owner / Basic and Address data can default to EVERY pet’s Basic
and Address fields. To complete the default, click on the Sync Feature
under tools in the main toolbar. Some pets do not live with their owners. In
this case, you will want to edit their individual profiles with current
information.
3. The Missing Pet Alert, under Main / Checklists, will always
default to the Pet Owner’s information.
4. Contacts will attach to a Contact Selection List within a given
category. Contacts will not attach (auto populate) to other categories within a
Pet Profile. You can Select and/or Remove contacts from the list
at any time. In addition, you can Add or Edit contacts on the
selection list at any time.
5. If you created more than one Pet Profile, the Contact Selection List will be
present (auto populated) across Pet Profiles. This is helpful if other
pet’s share similar contacts. If not, you may need to Edit or Delete
contact information in the respective Pet Profile or sub category. The Contact
Selection List will also be present (auto populate) for other pets when you Add
Pet Profiles.

User Manual
Petcare Software does not ship with a User Manual. The product was developed for
ease to use. You will find some basic navigation help in the software. Go to Help
– Intro in the main menu to discover helpful navigation tips. Based on
our research, development effort and user experiences (to date), new users
should be up-and-running immediately. Petcare Software was created to do the
thinking for you!
In addition, advisor topics, user notes and on-screen mouse-overs are embedded
in the software to help guide you.
Visit our FAQ’s from time-to-time for additional tips. We will keep these pages
updated.
We would also like to hear from you regarding your experience with Petcare
Software. Please contact us with your
feedback.

Optimal “Screen Resolution” Settings
Petcare Software supports a screen resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels, 32 bit
color quality and 96 DPI. To check your system configuration, go to your Control
Panel to view or adjust your Display Settings. When present,
click on Advanced and the Settings tab to adjust your DPI to
the “normal size” of 96 dpi (dots per inch). If necessary, select the “restart
the computer and apply” option to change your system settings to 96
DPI. This will correct any problems with screen resolution for Petcare
Software.
Some computer systems ship from the factory with 120 DPI. Petcare Software and
other applications do not support 120 DPI. You can always follow the same
procedures (above) to readjust your system settings to 120 DPI for applications
that may require it.

Printing Options
Petcare Software offers preformatted vs. custom printing options. This
simplifies the overall task of printing. You can print any Checklist or Report
in color or black (your choice, based on your type of printer). Go to
Checklists or Reports in the main menu to view your printing options.
You can also use the “Print All” option to print all Checklists and
Reports. Based on the amount of data you enter in a pet profile; and your
system requirements, this may be a slow process. Therefore, we suggest you only
use the Print All option for paper files.
If you are a multiple pet family, you will need to print Checklists and Reports
for each Pet.
Missing Pet Alert (Checklist) – helpful hint: Time is of the essence if
your pet is missing. The Missing Pet Alert is auto-populated with key data that
you enter into the Owner, Identity and Health categories. Based on the amount
of data you enter into a profile, the printed checklist may exceed one page in
length. You may want to look at the fields in the Missing Pet Alert before you
populate the data for the first time. Then, you can under-populate these fields
to produce a one page report that may be more suitable for posting(s). When
printed, you can go back to these categories and completely populate the data.
You can also edit the data at any time to create a one or multiple page Alert.
It’s your choice.
These are the only printing options/choices available at this time.
Please ensure that you have the latest printer driver(s) installed for best
results. Check with your printer manufacturer for available drivers.

Exporting Checklists or Reports
You must be a registered user of Petcare Software to use this feature.
This feature is very helpful if you choose to export an individual Checklist
or Report to:
-
A trusted source
-
A veterinary professional
-
An alternate caretaker
-
Friends or family members
-
Authorities or Shelters (missing pet)
-
Another location on your computer (backup)
-
Etc.
Step 1: Select the Checklist or Report that you want to export. When the
report viewer appears, click on the envelope (icon) in the main menu or
the report viewer. A modal appears so you can choose where you want to Save in.
Pick a location you can remember. Then, choose a File Name. Next, click the
down arrow on Save as type. You will find six (6) choices. We suggest
you use Microsoft Word (*.doc) or Adobe Acrobat (*pdf) at this time. Then,
click Save.
Now you can create an e-mail message and attach any exported Checklist or
Report to the e-mail message.

Firewalls and Security Settings
Many of these products offer you various settings and levels of protection. They
may impact your general use of Petcare Software and other application programs.
Therefore, you may want to adjust (block or unblock) these settings
accordingly. Check with the manufacturer.

Sync Addresses
Find the Sync Address feature. This allows you to synchronize your Owner Basic
and Address information with your Pet Basic and Address information. We do not
default this information to your pets automatically because some pets do not
live with their owners on a permanent basis.
Remember, Sync Address will synchronize Basic and Address information for EVERY
pet profile. Later, you can edit any pet profile as you choose.
Pet Photo
Go to Identity - Basic to import a photo of your pet into their profile.
When the modal screen appears, click on the Import Picture box to upload
a picture. The picture should be a .jpeg file. The file size cannot
exceed two (2) megabytes.
Petcare Software does not edit the size of the photo for you. You must use a
photo editor to reduce the size of large pictures to meet the two (2) megabyte
requirement.
You can and should update the photo every three (3) months.
Text Boxes
The product offers a number of text boxes for you to enter data about your pets.
Based on the data field, we may have limited the size of the text box for a
variety of reasons. Therefore, you may reach a maximum in any given text box.
The largest text box can accommodate a maximum of 2,048 characters.

Permanent Pet Profile(s)
Each Pet Profile is a permanent record for a named pet. Much like your important
information (drivers license, birth certificate, etc.) the record is not
transferable to another named pet. The Standard Edition of Petcare Software
ships with two (2) permanent pet profiles. One or two profiles are created (by
name) when you begin to use the product. Additional Pet Profiles can be ordered
directly from ORGIT. The Additional Pet Profiles that you can apply do not
consume any more system resources. The data you enter into these profiles will
consume more of your systems resources.
See the FAQ on Additional Pet Profiles.

Uninstall Petcare Software
The only time you may need to uninstall the product is when you upgrade to a new
computer. Therefore, it is important for you to keep your original CD in a safe
place. We recommend that you keep the CD protected in its original sleeve. You
may need the sleeve to reapply the serial number that is located on the side.
As a registered user, you can also locate your serial number in the main menu
under Help – About Petcare Software.
Before you uninstall, you will need to follow these very important steps. If you
do not follow these steps you will lose your data and possibly your total
number of pet profiles. ORGIT may be able to help you recover your
unique Serial Number (if registered) but, we will not be able to help you
recover any of your data.
1. Backup your data using the Backup Data option under Tools in
the main menu. Also see the FAQ on the Backup Data feature.
2. Follow the instructions for the Backup Data option under Tools in the main
menu so you can locate the backup set (.bak) that you will want to move and
install on to your new computer.
3. When complete, you are prepared to unregister the product with ORGIT. You
must have an open connection to the internet. Then, click on Tools – Unregister
in the main menu and follow the instructions. If you do not unregister from
your old computer you will not be able to register the product on your new
computer.
4. When successful, you can reinstall your original CD on the new computer. You
must have an open connection to the internet and your unique Serial Number to
reregister the product with ORGIT.
5. Now, you can uninstall Petcare Software from your old computer. Go to the Start
menu. Search for Petcare after you click on All Programs. Click
on Uninstall Petcare CD to complete the uninstall process.
6. Now, you can follow the instructions to Restore the backup file on
your new computer.
See the FAQ on the Restore feature.

Additional Pet Profiles
You must be a registered user to apply Additional Pet Profiles. You cannot apply
Additional Pet Profiles without the Standard Edition of Petcare Software. They
will not work on a standalone basis.
Additional Pet Profiles can only be ordered from ORGIT Software
Corporation. Visit the Buy section now. They are not available from any other
source or merchant.
You must have a valid Serial Number handy when ordering. Your unique Serial
Number is located on the original sleeve for your Petcare CD. If you are a
registered user, you can locate your serial number under Tools - About Petcare
Software in the main menu. Here, you can also see the total number of
existing Pet Profiles that are registered and authorized for use.
When your order is approved by ORGIT, installation instructions will be printed
on your receipt. You will not have to download any software and you
will not receive Additional Pet Profiles on any form of media (CD, Diskette,
etc.). This eliminates shipping and handling charges. It’s a very automated and
simple process!

Hide Pet Info feature
The Hide Pet Info feature is located in the main menu under Tools.
The hide pet feature was added for a few reasons:
-
If your beloved pet dies, you may not want to view or edit their permanent pet
profile. The data and their profile will not be deleted.
-
You own multiple pets. You may want to hide any or every profile that you are
not viewing or working in.
The pet info is hidden. The pet name is not. At any time, you can un-hide this
pet information by clicking on the pet name in the Select Pet dropdown
box. Follow the simple instructions on the screen to use this feature.
